DOUBLE CHIN: CAN FACE YOGA HELP US REDUCE IT?

The answer is naturally yes! In fact, Facial Yoga can help us fight some of the causes of the double chin. Let's see them together.


WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF THE DOUBLE CHIN?

1. LOSS OF THE MUSCLE TONE IN THE CHIN AREA

The muscles of the sub chin, like all the muscles of the human body, over the years tend to lose their tone and strength. This loss of tone determines the unsightly transfer of the skin and a worsening of the image of the face and neck, men and women, especially in profile.

2. PROLONGED MAINTENANCE OF INCORRECT POSTURES

The prolonged use of phones, tablets, PC damages, in addition to the eyes, also the aesthetic of the neck and sub -chin. When we look at the electronic devices - but even when we read a book lying in bed - we tend to keep the object of our attention at the bottom and close to the body. This involves that we look down, crushing the chin towards the chest and creating wrinkles and folds of the neck and chin.

3. PUTTING ON WEIGHT

An incorrect diet can determine a deposit of fats in the body. One of the areas of the body in which these fats are deposited is the area​​ under the chin. An accumulation of fat in this area increases the double chin, worsening face and neck aesthetic.

HOW CAN WE INTERVENE WITH FACE YOGA?

1. DOING MUSCLE TONING EXERCISES FOR THE CHIN AND NECK AREA

In this video available on my YouTube channel I show you some targeted exercises for the under chin muscle toning (which includes the digastric muscle and the milohyoid muscle) and useful exercises to eliminate the double chin. These are 2 simple exercises and 3 massages you should perform every day and that will take you six minutes only. In order to make sure you practice them in the right way, you will have to perform the exercises in front of a mirror. Soon you will feel comfortable with them and you will be able to exercise even when watching TV.

2. PRACTISING SIMPLE POSTURE EXERCISES 

Setting out a correct posture means you reach an automatic and optimal control of the position of the shoulders, chest, head, and neck. In fact, once these body areas have acquired the correct position to maintain, it will then be easier for them to keep it automatically. You can therefore reach the ideal posture -through simple postural exercises inserted in your chin Face Yoga routine- and create a mental reflection that  makes you pull the chin up, stretch the column up, relax our shoulders and open up the chest. To reach this goal you have to be patient and keep exercising. In the video that I proposed you in the previous paragraph, and that you can find on this link, you will have a proposal of chin and neck toning exercises combined with simple postural exercises, which you can include in your daily habits.

3. CHOOSING THE RIGHT FOOD

Eating healthy and natural foods, help us to avoid the accumulation of fats, to promote a healthy and young aspect of the skin and, among other things, to avoid the formation of the double chin. Healthy foods are vegetables, fruit, meat, fish, legumes, wholemeal pasta and bread, rice, all cooked in a simple way, for example steamed, seasoned with olive oil and a little salt. Proper nutrition does not mean deprivation or renunciation, it means choosing mostly healthy foods and, from time to time, less healthy foods but which give us more satisfaction.

SO WHAT TO DO TO FIGHT THE DOUBLE CHIN?

Facial exercises, avoid pushing the chin to the chest (when we look at a screen), working on improving posture and on maintaining the ideal body weight.
The practice of my advises must be seasoned with constancy, this is in fact the main ingredient when it comes to beauty and well-being.
